New forest industry messaging will be in place at the Forest Industry site at Agfest this year. A group from the working party of those with a presence at Agfest has designed fresh signage for use at the front of the site.
The three signs, each slightly different, are designed to capture the attention of visitors, using vibrant colours and thought-provoking questions they might not have considered before, with a call-to-action to ‘come inside and find out more’.
The goal is to bridge the gap in public understanding between seeing forests and plantations in the landscape, and recognising the diverse products, from furniture to building materials and consumer products, which those forests and industry provide.
A sub-committee worked on the signs collaboratively, pooling capacity in design, copywriting, branding and marketing. The focus was representing the many aspects of the industry, from the significance of people, research and innovation, as well as the variety of manufactured products made from native forestry and plantations. Additionally, the signs reference the service forestry provides in fire risk mitigation and active fire-fighting efforts.
Recognising the challenges of producing signage to suit all those present in the industry, the signs will be printed on easily replaceable corflute allowing for updates and improvements each year, subject to funding. The only branding featured is the TFFPN logo, making the signs versatile and suitable for various events, and potentially available for use by members.
