The Northern Tasmania Regional Forestry Hub is pleased to release strategic assessment reports that it has commissioned in priority areas identified by its key industry and community stakeholders.
Each report has been prepared for the Hub by consultants who are experts in their fields and includes recommendations to the Hub around opportunities for growth, and removal of barriers to expansion, for the forestry sector.
Reports have been prepared in the areas of Land Access for Plantation Forest Investment; Supply Chain and Infrastructure; Climate Change and Carbon Policy; and, Culture, Skills and Training.
Greenwood Strategy, the University of Tasmania and the University of Melbourne were selected by the Hub earlier this year to prepare the strategic assessment reports.
The Hub was established as part of the Commonwealth Government’s National Forest Industries Plan – Growing a Better Australia – A Billion Trees for Jobs and Growth, which is focussed on driving a billion new trees in forestry plantations to meet Australia’s future needs for wood and fibre in the next decade.
The Hub will now review and prioritise the key opportunities and recommendations identified in the reports in light of the National Forest Industries Plan, and start planning for implementation.
