Joe Tidey
I am a Chartered Accountant with over ten years of Executive Finance experience in Tasmania, holding senior roles at Skretting Australia and TasRail. My background includes strong governance oversight, serving as Director and Company Secretary at Skretting and Company Secretary at TasRail.
Much of my career has been in the aquaculture industry in Tasmania and Canada, where I developed a deep appreciation for the role of industry advocacy and strategic communication in uniting stakeholders and promoting sector value. At TasRail, I gained direct experience in government engagement, understanding the importance of reputation, constructive relationships across all levels of government, and political neutrality to secure bipartisan support.
A proud Tasmanian, raised in the Tamar Valley and now living in Hobart, I value the close-knit nature of our communities and regularly travel across the state. I believe Tasmania has a strong story to tell in managing natural resources, particularly our forests, and see opportunities to support sustainable industries for future generations.
If selected, I will be an active, engaged Board member, providing expertise in regulatory and compliance matters, and offering insights from another resource-dependent industry that has faced similar public perception and stakeholder engagement challenges. I am passionate about ensuring the positive story of our forests is told and helps drive the industry forward.
Anne Chuter
In my substantive role as Tasmania’s Chief Forest Practices Officer at the independent Forest Practices Authority (FPA), I play a pivotal role in balancing industry requirements with sustainable environmental practices in timber harvesting and conservation.
I have extensive practical experience in environmental management within a wood production landscape, technical biodiversity knowledge, and a sound understanding of forest operations. Most recently, I have been working in the area of forest policy advice and development.
I have worked in the sector for over 20 years and am a strong advocate for sustainable and responsible forest management. I believe my skills, experience, and networks will enable me to fulfil the role of Director on the TFFPN Board to the highest standard.
The TFFPN is a key communications and connections network for the forestry and wood products sector in Tasmania, and I look forward to working with the Board to further collaboration across the sector.
