As Tasmania’s forestry industry continues to play a vital role in rebuilding the State’s economy, the Tasmania Forestry Hub has appointed leading forestry consulting firm Indufor to define and prioritise the infrastructure needs of the forestry industry in southern Tasmania.

Tasmania’s forestry operations produce responsibly sourced wood that is both renewable and sustainable, and support thousands of direct and indirect jobs in regional communities. A significant portion of Tasmanian wood flows through Hobart port, and to this end Indufor’s work will also include an economic analysis demonstrating the value of Hobart port.

“This strategic piece of work will enable us to understand the key infrastructure growth drivers in southern Tasmania and to prepare for the future. It nicely compliments the infrastructure work we completed in the north of Tasmania last year. We are pleased to be partnering with leading Australian industry experts Indufor to drive this impactful work,” said Ms Monika Winston, General Manager of the Tasmania Forestry Hub.

The Hub was established to support the Commonwealth Government’s strategy to drive growth in the renewable timber and wood fibre industry in Tasmania, and continues to consult extensively with stakeholders across the forestry value chain.
