Trees are a big resource. Forestry provides about three billion in exports and manufacturing, sales and service income of twenty-four billion.

But we’re actually a net importer of wood products and so the government would like to see a billion more trees for timber and fibre. After all farmers, in some parts of the country, are already making money from trees in another way, from carbon abatement.
