Building forestry’s ‘Workforce of the Future’
Network workshop to focus on workforce and diversity
Members are invited to participate in a fully-facilitated Workforce of the Future Workshop on 16 March in Launceston, which will bring our sector together to map out and design initiatives to build and support a future forest industry workforce through the development of a Diversity Action Plan for the sector.
- What could our industry look like in 2050?
- What workforce would we need to support this vision?
- How can we build this workforce?
- How can we foster diversity and inclusion in our recruitment and in our workplaces?
The Tasmanian Forest Industry Workforce Development and Implementation Plan, released in September 2021, provides the roadmap for our forestry workforce to meet our future industry needs and includes key goals on diversity and inclusion. By working together, we can continue to support a workforce that will grow to meet our industry needs and be professional, sustainable, diverse and safe.
For both the workforce and diversity plans to be successfully implemented, initiatives must be underpinned by organisational change principles and engage and enable leaders to build capacity and embed into their individual organisational policies and procedures.
